Narega rhymes with karega

When I read Ila Patnaik’s article I remember my visit to some villages near by Indore city in 2006 (at that time I was in Indore University working as a research faculty). The visit was part of our workshop. It was a rural appraisal kind of thing. One thing I still remember freshly is the toilet facilities it was peculiar that every villager had used the ‘toilet’ for goat shed etc. The reasons are many for why village people were not interested to change their habit like the urban people. Among others the reasons include available of water, some sort of uneasiness, people have to wait for long, etc. The Madhya Pradesh government was funded this toilet building programme (one in every household) for a sanitation development.

So, this scheme was biggest failure and money spend was completely waste. Though, many argued that at least the village people were used for putting goat, etc. Some of these folks were also argued that even 10-20 percent of people get benefit from public distribution system (PDS) they said it was great achievement! What a stupid!

If you demand anything from the government don’t forget to think that they will never ask you to pay higher tax but they will coerce (may be theft is right word) you to pay more taxes.
